Sachin Tendulkar has urged India to back banned boxer Sarita Devi. After meeting sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi on Wednesday, the cricket legend said the country should back Sarita in her quest to overturn a ban from the Amateur International Boxing Association. Sarita was banned for refusing to accept her medal during the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
“As a fellow sportsperson, I can relate to the emotional turmoil which Ms. Devi must have undergone leading to the unfortunate outburst. Subsequently, she has regretted and deserves another chance to continue her pursuits. As you may be aware, she has already apologised for her unsportsmanlike behaviour. As a country, we should make every effort to ensure that Ms. Devi is pardoned and allowed to pursue her boxing skills at the highest level. Tendulkar requested Sonowal to consider forming a task force of senior officials from the Indian Olympic Association and the Boxing Federation and defend her case in front of the governing body, AIBA. With limited knowledge on the ongoing process, I would sincerely request to consider forming a task force of senior officials from the Indian Olympic Association, the Indian Boxing Federation backed with strong legal minds under your stewardship. The objective of this task force should be to deter any potential move by the Governing body to cause irreversible harm to Ms. Devi’s career by placing compelling arguments in her defence. This is critical as Ms. Devi belongs to a set of passionate sportspersons who have taken immense pride in representing the country and deserve all the support and backing from various stakeholders including Government of India,” he wrote.

Is it a stove or a lamp? "It is actually both," says engineer-inventor Anil Rajvanshi, developer of a dual purpose device that simultaneously solves the twin problem of cooking and lighting in rural homes that do not have electricity.
A lantern, which burns kerosene to produce bright light and also doubles up as a cooking stove, is invention from Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) at Phaltan in Maharashtra, a non-profit organisation that undertakes research in agriculture, renewable energy, animal husbandry and sustainable development.
"It is a matter of shame that even 67 years after independence, about 60% of rural population in India has no electricity and they use ancient kerosene lanterns for lighting. This hybrid device 'lanstove' (lantern combined with cook stove) provides excellent light and cooks a complete meal of rice, dal and vegetables for a family of five and boils 10 litres of water for drinking - all in four hours. It is smokeless, noiseless and emits no smell or soot unlike regular kerosene lanterns or stoves. Also because of the excellent combustion kerosene becomes a very clean fuel for rural households - almost equivalent to LPG." says NARI director Rajvanshi.

Once known as a backward state, Bihar has made a strong bid for a mention on the world's InfoTech map as chief minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the 20km free Wi-Fi zone, the longest across the globe, at a function christened e-Bihar summit in Patna on Wednesday.
If you have an internet-enabled device and you are anywhere on the stretch from NIT-Patna on Ashok Rajpath to Danapur, you can now access the internet free of cost.
Nitish Kumar also unveiled a 'city surveillance and dial 100' scheme under which at least 100 CCTV cameras installed in different localities of the state capital became operational. A state data centre has also been opened for storing of the 'data' collected by these cameras.
Note:
1. The state's free Wi-Fi zone is the longest in the world since China's 3.5km zone was treated as the longest so far.
2. The 'city surveillance and dial 100' project is first of its kind in the country as it integrates the surveillance of the city, vehicle tracking and dial 100 control centre schemes.
3. An automated number plate recognition system has been installed on 11 roads, which will automatically note the registration number of the vehicles entering and exiting the city.
4. " The scheme purports to take pictures of the street and vehicles entering the city from all major entrances. "Using this system, our law enforcement officials were recently able to rescue the kidnapped son of an Agra-based businessman within 24 hours," Kumar said.
5. Furthermore, the Chief Minister also announced the proposed construction of two IT buildings and an 'Infotech' Park in the state capital.

Take a little baking soda and mix it with the castor oil to create a paste. I suggest you add some citrus oil as it will stink to high heaven. Apply it to the affected area and cover with a band-aid. The typical time it will take is 2-4 weeks before the skin tag vanishes.
Apple Cider Vinegar-Apple cider vinegar works very well for removing skin tags and the good news is that you can buy it in a grocery store for fairly cheap. Just like tea tree oil, you simply dab some of it on a q-tip or cotton ball and apply it directly to the skin tag. Unlike the tea tree oil, Apple Cider vinegar may cause a stinging sensation for a couple minutes after being applied. Typical time until the skin tag vanishes?....2-4 weeks.
Those are just 3 herbal treatments that you can use to remove skin tags. If you don't mind waiting a couple weeks and can discipline yourself to treating the skin tag at least once a day, then these will naturally treat your skin tags from your home.

DO'S AND DON'T'S FOR MANAGING DENGUE FEVER/DENGUE HAEMORRHAGIC FEVER CASES

HOW TO RECOGNIZE DENGUE FEVER/DENGUE HAEMORRHAGIC FEVER

Dengue Fever (DF) is an acute febrile illness of 2-7 days duration (sometimes with two peaks) with two or more of the following manifestations:

·  Headache
·  Retro-orbital pain (Sudden onset of pain, generally around or behind the eye)
·  Myalgia (or muscle pain) /arthralgia (joint pain)
·  Rash
·  Haemorrhagic (general term for a severe illness, sometimes associated with bleeding) manifestation (petechiae and positive tourniquest test) and
·  Leucopenia (a decrease in the number of white blood cells)

In children, DF is usually mild. In some adults, DF may be the classic incapacitating disease with severe bone pain and recovery may be associated with prolonged fatigue and depression.

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a probable case of dengue and haemorrhagic tendency evidenced by one or more of the following:

·  Positive tourniquet test
·  Petechiae, ecchymosis or purpura
·  Bleeding from mucosa (mostly epistaxis or bleeding from gums), injection sites or other sties
·  Haematemesis or melena
·  Thrombocytopaemia (platelets 100,000/cu.mm or less) and
·  Evidence of plasma leakage due to increased capillary permeability manifested by one or more of the following:

o  A > 20% rise in haemotocrit for age and sex
o  A > 20% drop in haemotocrit following treatment with fluids as compared to baseline
o  Signs of plasma leakage (pleural effusion, ascites or hypoproteinaemia)

Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) All the above criteria of DHF plus signs of circulatory failure manifested by rapid and weak pulse, narrow pulse pressure (< or equal to 20 mm Hg); hypotension for age, cold and clammy skin and restlessness.

The above descriptions of DF/DHF/DSS are adequate for guiding doctors to treat the disease. However, for reporting of the disease, cases should be classified as suspected DF/DHF/DSS on the basis of above the criteria. Added serological evidence would categorize them into probable and confirmed cases.

DO'S AND DON'TS FOR DOCTORS

WHAT TO DO:

·      Cases of Dengue fever/Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DF/DHF) should be observed every hour.
·      Serial platelet and haematocrit determinations, drop in platelets and rise in haematocrits are essential for early diagnosis of DHF.
·      Timely intravenous therapy - isotonic crystalloid solution can prevent shock and/or lessen its severity.
·      If the patient's condition becomes worse despite giving 20ml/kg/hr for one hour, replace crystalloid solution with colloid solution such as Dextran or plasma. As soon as improvement occurs, replace with crystalloid.
·      If improvement occurs, reduce the speed from 20 ml to 10 ml, then to 6 ml, and finally to 3 ml/kg.
·      If haematocrit falls, give blood transfusion 10 ml/kg and then give crystalloid IV fluids at the rate of 10ml/kg/hr.
·      In case of severe bleeding, give fresh blood transfusion about 20 ml/kg for two hours. Then give crystalloid at 10 ml/kg/hr for a short time (30-60 minutes) and later reduce the speed.
·      In case of shock, give oxygen.
·      For correction of acidosis (sign: deep breathing), use sodium bicarbonate.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

·   Do not give Aspirin or Brufen for treatment of fever.
·   Avoid giving intravenous therapy before there is evidence of haemorrhage and bleeding.
·   Avoid giving blood transfusion unless indicated, reduction in haematocrit or severe bleeding. ·    Avoid giving steroids. They do not show any benefit.
·   Do not use antibiotics.
·   Do not change the speed of fluid rapidly, i.e., avoid rapidly increasing or rapidly slowing the
speed of fluids.
·   Insertion of nasogastric tube to determine concealed bleeding or to stop bleeding (by cold
lavage) is not recommended since it is hazardous.

SIGNS OF RECOVERY:

·   Stable pulse, blood pressure and breathing rate 
·   Normal temperature
·   No evidence of external or internal bleeding
·   Return of appetite
·   No vomiting
·   Good urine output
·   Stable haematocrit
·   Convalescent confluent petechiae rash

CRITERIA FOR DISCHARGING PATIENTS:

·   Absence of fever for at least 24 hours without the use of anti-fever therapy
·   Return of appetite
·   Visible clinical improvement
·   Good urine output
·   Minimum of three days after recovery from shock
·   No respiratory distress from pleural effusion and no ascites
·   Platelet count of more than 50,000/mm3


DO'S AND DON'TS FOR PATIENTS

If you or any family member is suffering from suspected dengue fever, it is important to carefully watch yourself or relative for the next few days, since this disease can rapidly become very serious and lead to a medical emergency.

The complications associated with Dengue Fever/Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever usually appear between the third and fifth day of illness. You should therefore watch the patient for two days even after fever disappears.

WHAT TO DO:

· Keep body temperature below 39oC. Give the patient paracetamol (not more than four times in 24
hours) as per the dose prescribed below:

· Give large amounts of fluids (water, soup, milk, juice) along with the patient's normal diet. 
· The patient should take complete rest.
· Immediately consult a doctor if any of the following manifestations appear:

o    Red spots or points on the skin; 
o    bleeding from the nose or gums; 
o    frequent vomiting;
o    vomiting with blood;
o    black stools;
o    sleepiness;
o    constant crying;
o    abdominal pain;
o    excessive thirst (dry mouth);
o    pale, cold or clammy skin;
o    difficulty in breathing.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

· Do not wait in case the above symptoms appear. Immediately consult a doctor. It is crucial to quickly get treatment in case of these complications.

· Do not take Aspirin or Brufen or Ibubrufen.

The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country and now they must put it back. It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity. It is ecological balance. You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. 

There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians, no east, no west, no Communists, no Third Worlds. There is only one holistic system of systems. One vast and immane, interwoven, interactive, multi-variant, multi-national dominion of dollars; petrol-dollars, electro-dollars, yens, Pounds, Rubles and sheckles. It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic, and sub-atomic, and galactic structure of things today. And you have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and you will atone. Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale? 

You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only I.B.M. and I.T.T. and A.T.&T and Dupont, Dow, Union Carbide and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. What do you think the Russians talk about in their Council of States? Karl Marx? They sit down with their statistical decision theories, lineal programming charts, and their Mini-Mac solutions and compute the cost-price probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do. We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, all inexorably determined by the immutable by-laws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale, and it has been ever since man crawled out of the slime.

And our children, Mr. Beale, will live to see that perfect world in which there is no war or famine, oppression or brutality. One vast and ecumenical holding company for whom all men will work to serve a common profit; in which all men will hold a share of stock; all necessities provided for, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.


At the bottom of all our terrified souls we know that democracy is a dying giant; a sick, dying, decaying political concept writhing in its final pain. I don't mean the United States is finished as a world power. The U.S. is the richest, the most powerful, the most advanced nation on earth, light years ahead of any other country. And I don't mean the communists are going to take over the world because the communists are deader than we are. What is finished is the idea that this great country is dedicated to the freedom and flourishing of every individual in it. It is the individual that's finished. It's the single, solitary human being that's finished. It's every one of you out there that's finished, because this is no longer a nation of independent individuals. It's a nation of some 250 odd million transistorized, deodorized, whiter-than-white, steel-belted bodies, totally unnecessary as human beings and as replaceable as piston rods.

The time has come to say, "is dehumanization such a bad word?" because good or bad, that's what is so. The whole world is becoming humanoid; creatures that look human but aren't. The whole world, not just us. We're just the most advanced country so we're getting there first. The whole world's people are becoming mass produced, programmed, numbered, insensate things.
